Exactly 80 years ago, a historic event took place in the history of our republic: the current firstborn of the Dagestan industry, the State Plant of Union Significance, called Dvigatelstroy (No. 182), was built and put into operation. The long-term history of JSC Dagdiesel Plant is closely connected with the development of the Russian defense industry, namely with production and improvement samples of shipboard underwater equipment.Back in 1932, tents of builders of the Dvigatelstroy organization appeared in a deserted swampy area, the work of which was successfully completed in 1937, when modern plant No. 182, located on the shore of the Caspian Sea, began producing powerful samples of torpedo technology.

Changing the names on the difficult path of formation and its heyday: "Dvigatelstroy", plant No. 182, "Dagdiesel", JSC "Dagdiesel Plant", he always remained true to his mission: to strengthen the country's defense capability, provide people with work, show an example of genuine internationalism.History shows that the priority objects of construction were considered to be a thermal power plant, a gravity conduit from Bekenez, a test station in the sea, which became an example of construction art. One by one, production buildings were erected, equipment was being installed in full swing, and preparations were underway for the production of prototypes of products. Since 1938, the company was headed by Vladimir Ivanovich Alferov, the author of a number of developments, later a Lenin Prize laureate, Hero of Socialist Labor, Doctor of Technical Sciences. By the beginning of the Second World War, plant No. 182 was already one of the largest operating enterprises in the North Caucasus. Its production area was 11280 sq.m., the number of staff was 600 people. Special attention was paid to the fulfillment of tasks for the production of basic products.

By 1940, the release of modern (of that time) high-speed torpedoes exceeded 600 units. During the Second World War, the plant took over the material part and large teams of evacuated factories (No. 175, 215 and parts of others); in a short time mastered the production of aircraft samples of products, and also produced a large number of bombs, shells, PPSH submachine guns, mortars. It is known that during the war in the Gulf of Finland, several Nazi warships were sunk with the help of products from our factory.

In 1942, despite the forced evacuation of the main production, the remaining workshops successfully fulfilled front-line orders, supplying weapons for the ground forces. In the spring of 1944, after re-evacuation, all the workshops of the main production were restored and put into operation. The order was successfully completed for the main profile of the plant - aviation samples of torpedo-building products 45-36 AN. In 1949, the development and production of diesel products began, the machine park was intensively updated and factory production was reoriented to the production of civilian products.

The beginning of the sixties was marked by the development of fundamentally new models of torpedo technology with electric power by the plant. The constant improvement of theory, practice and design, the development of advanced technologies allowed the Dagdiesel plant to take a leading place among the enterprises of the 4th Main Directorate of SMEs, to engage in close cooperation with design organizations in the creation of new generations of naval weapons. The plant's staff has educated a number of talented managers, designers and scientists, such as Levchenko M.P., Aliverdiev A.A., Abakarov A.I., Feofilov V.I., Zykov A. A., Filin P.I. and many others.

For the timely and high-quality supply of new equipment, the Dagdiesel plant was twice awarded the highest orders of the Soviet Union: the Order of Lenin (1971) and the Order of the October Revolution (1983). Currently, the plant accounts for a quarter of the total volume of industrial production and a quarter of industrial tax collections in Dagestan. In 2008. JSC "Dagdiesel Plant" became part of the state holding company "Concern "Marine Underwater Weapons - Hydropribor", and in 2015 it became part of JSC "Corporation "Tactical Missile Armament".

Since 2017, there has been an increase in the number associated with the recruitment of young workers to work in the workshop, which is equipped with new modern equipment as part of the project "Reconstruction and technical re-equipment of the production of underwater weapons at JSC "Dagdiesel Plant". The plant is currently undergoing technical modernization, which is planned to be completed in 2024. For the implementation of new projects, new personnel are being trained and interned at enterprises that are part of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation JSC.

After suffering financial difficulties and being on the verge of bankruptcy, the plant is returning to life, preparing to release new products, paid off debts and turned a profit. The company is ready to establish production of technical goods for civil purposes and marine diesel engines. Currently, the plant is preparing to test the latest underwater torpedo of its own design.
